Write 2 original poems
These CANNOT be any poem(s) you have written this year or in previous
years.
They cannot be “I am” or Acrostic poems
You must write a rough draft for both poems AND turn them in with
your final copy.
The final copy can be typed but the rough draft can’t be typed…it
must be handwritten.
The final must be written on computer paper or construction paper if
not typed. (If you need computer paper or construction paper, ASK ME! I have
plenty.)
Each poem will be a test grade
Poems due February 12th
Requirements:
Both poems must be AT LEAST 8 lines and have at least 2 stanzas.
Both poems must be on an appropriate topic for school. They can be
funny, serious, happy, romantic, sad, etc.
Both poems must have a title
Both poems must have AT LEAST one poetic element (alliteration,
personification, simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, or hyperbole)
Both poems must have some kind of rhyme pattern
Illustrate or decorate the final copies

Options:
-write your words 5 times each
-make a crossword with at least 12 of your words.
-choose at least 12 words and draw a picture to go along with each one (label
the picture with the spelling word)
-write analogies using at least 10 spelling words (ex: extract: take out ::
examine : look closely) *do NOT use my example*
- make 12 of your words by cutting out letters (or entire words) in a
newspaper or magazine and gluing them onto notebook or computer paper
****You may do one extra option for a 5 point pass to be used on any
assignment
