Reaction to a Newspaper/Magazine Article
Staple the newspaper article to the back of this paper and turn in to the
basket. The paragraphs can be typed or handwritten.
You must have all of this information on the paper that you turn in with your
summary:
Source Information
o Name of the newspaper or magazine
o Name of the article
o Date of the newspaper or magazine
o Author
Summary paragraph
o Write at least 5 COMPLETE sentences summarizing the article. Answer
important questions like- WHO? WHAT? WHEN? WHERE? WHY?
Personal reaction
o Write at least 5 complete sentences telling what you thought of the
article. This is just your opinion of what the author wrote about…it is NOT
another summary. (Some things to think about: what did YOU think of this
article? did you like it or not, why? did you learn anything from it?, has
anything like this ever happened to you?, etc)
***You can earn up to 20 points per article summary. The number of points
earned will be based on how well the paragraphs are written and if you
followed all the directions.
