What do I need for class?

A binder separated into subject areas
agenda planner
assigned textbooks
workbooks
note cards to use as a study tool
pencils

What are some classroom routines for each week?

DOL is completed every day at the beginning of class and is due on Fridays.
Accelerated Reader is required for all classes.
Grade Recording Sheet goes home every Monday evening for parent review.  Those
signed and returned by Thursday earn extra points.

How do I know which novels have a quiz for AR?

You can check in the library for quiz titles when we visit on Fridays.
You can also check the school website at 
www.blountk12.org/Hmsweb/new_main_page.htm for a listing of all AR quizzes
provided for novels.

How can I keep up in class?

1. Pay attention to and learn the routines/procedures of each classroom.
2. Copy your agenda and homework from each class into your agenda planner each
day.  Know your test schedule for each week.
3. Stay organized by dividing your binder into separate subject areas, keeping
a folder for loose papers, clean out your locker occasionally, and ask
questions when you are not sure.
4.  Complete all assignments and study for all tests.

How can I, as a parent, keep up with my child's progress?

 *Students are asked to write down each day's agenda and homework in their
Agenda Planners for viewing at any time.  The weekly agenda is also posted on
the website by each Monday afternoon.
 *Students are given graded papers and are asked to record their grades on
Mondays of each week.  Initialed Grade Recording Sheets will earn extra points.
  *Check with the office to obtain a password to check your child's grades on
Star Student as they are entered by the teachers.  You must have internet
access in order to do this.
 *Progress Reports are sent home with averages during the fifth week of each
nine weeks.
 * Report Cards are sent home each nine weeks.
 * Call or email with any questions or concerns.
