FAQ

I don't know that I have enough questions to be considered "frequently
asked" but...
  1. Late work?
  2. Borrowing calculators?
  3. Make Up Tests?
  4. Honors Classes?

Late work?

I will take late work, as long as it isn't just copied from a
friend. It gets hard to keep up though, so I highly encourage not
falling behind in the first place.

Borrowing calculators?

I personally have sevral graphing calculators I can loan out. I
don't mind loaning them out over a weekend for an ACT/SAT exam,
but normally I don't let students take them home to finish their
daily work.

I also have a set of classroom calculators that are used daily. As
such, they get a lot of use. So far, we haven't had a problem,
but it's always better to have your own.

Make Up Tests?

I work with the student to find a time to make up tests. Tests
are an assessment of student knowledge -did they retain what I
taught them? So it is important to me that they be assessed, even
if it's a week or two late, even if it takes more than one day,
or even several days to finish it.

Honors Classes?

I teach an Honors Geometry class during the fall semester. This class
is open to Sophomores, and requires them to get an application from
me at the end of their Freshman Spring Semester. Should a Sophomore
choose to add Honors Geometry they can still talk to me the first
week of school. These students will then take Honors Algebra II
during the spring semester their Sophomore year -provided they
maintain grades and have no discipline issues. They will then take
Pre-Calculus their Junior Year, and are REQUIRED to take an
additional math class their senior year. Graphing calculators are
required for these classes, and additional work is expected of
them. I also coordinate the other honors math programs, so see me
if you have additional questions.
