About The Teacher

I am so thrilled to be teaching your child at Indian Lake Elementary School.
This is my fourth year in second grade at Indian Lake. I previously
taught at Walton Ferry Elementary in third grade for 4 years and 10 years in
kindergarten. I also taught in Knoxville for two years.

Although I've been teaching a long time, I still get excited
about a new year and meeting my new students!

I have been married for 23 years to my husband, Kevin. (Kevin
actually went to Indian Lake School when he was a young boy!) We have 3
sons. Ike is 17, Zane is 12, and Chaz is 6. Our boys play many sports, so
you may see us around town.

There are many hobbies I enjoy. I like to run, swim, grill out and "play"
in the yard with the boys. I also love to snuggle up with a good book!
My family and I get excited about watching a movie together in front of a
cozy fire, as well.

Mission For The Class

My class mission is to establish an environment in which each student feels
successful every day! I challenge my students to be "smart" and
independent thinkers. "I can't" is not acceptable. My students will learn
to problem solve, work independently, and work together in teams. Each day
will be packed with lessons and activities that challenge students to work
to their fullest potentials.

My motto is "Work hard/ play hard!" I expect my students to use my class
time for focused and quality schoolwork. In turn, I will give them
recess time each day for "play"! Good manners are expected daily, I expect
all of my students to be polite and treat others with respect.

Indian Lake School continues to focus on a character building discipline
program called Establishing the Keys to Excellence. Your child will learn
about the eight keys that promote living a life of excellent character.
These are called behaviors that are above "the line". Behaviors that are
negative and do not conform to the values that we uphold will be
considerered "below the line", and will not be accepted. This will be a
wonderful journey for all of us. I am excited about sharing these enriching
life lessons with your children.
