RECOMMENDATION LETTERS
AND/OR
COUNSELOR SECTION OF COLLEGE APPS:
The following process MUST be followed if you want a letter of
recommendation, counselor sections of college applications filled out,
and/or official transcripts from Mrs. Guss:
If you need a recommendation letter from Mrs. Guss or your teachers
(teachers who know you well are best), fill out a recommendation request
form before asking for a recommendation. Give the completed form to the
person you need the letter from AT LEAST TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE. These forms
are in the senior counseling office (room 105).
* If your college application has a counselor section (secondary school
report) for your senior counselor to fill out, be sure your name is on the
application and pencil in the date you are dropping it off (on the top of
the front page), and put it in the labeled box on the right side of the room
next to the computers. Put it there AT LEAST TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE of the
date you need it sent to your college(s).
TIP: Most secondary reports have a place where your counselor can include
more information (i.e. an extra letter of recommendation). If you want this
sent with your secondary school report (a good idea), please include a
completed letter of recommendation request along with your secondary school
report.
If you only need a transcript, pick up a transcript request form from
the senior counseling office. There is a 2-3 day turn-around for
transcripts. If you mark the box to pick up the transcript yourself, don't
forget to come by and get it!
I will try my best to return your forms and a copy of my recommedation letter
within 2 weeks. If you have not gotten them in two weeks, stop by my office.
If your application needs teacher recommendation letters, remember to
attach those with your application when you mail everything to the college.
You must arrange your own teacher recommendations!
I MUST have at least a TWO-WEEK turn around time, so do not procrastinate in
this process.
