WELCOME to Ms. Heather Presley who will be in our classroom for the remainder
of the school year. She is an intern from UT and is already working on many
great ideas. Our class is so happy to have her with us. Be looking for
special projects that she will teach in class as part of her requirements for
her Master's degree.
Here are some things to remember all year:
Look for news about what we're studying each Friday on the "What We're
Studying This Week" page of the web page. It is updated either Thursday or
Friday. I will also send home a copy of the letter in the Friday folder if
you request it. This folder also has graded work. Show the work to your
parents and wait for them to brag on how much you have learned! Remember to
ask them to sign the folder and return it the next Monday.
You should take your Daily Folder home every day and let parents see it.
This folder has important notes, your homework, what we studied for the day
and behavior information in it. Get into the habit of taking it home every
day.
Spelling words will come home on Monday. You will need to complete Spelling
homework. Look for the yellow sheet with all the details that is in the back
of your Daily Folder.
We have Math homework most nights but not every night. You can boost your
Math success by working on addition, subtraction and multiplication flash
cards each night. Practice makes perfect so get in there and work!
You will enjoy the special reading projects that are lined up for this year.
Each month we study a different reading genre and make a report. All reports
should be checked at home before they are turned in for a final grade.
Remember that neatness and promptness counts.
Science and Social Studies text books may be new to you. You will learn how
to read for information from these text books so take them home and do a
little extra study. Don't forget the Science Fair project that is due on
Feb. 3
You should be reading at home for 20 minutes each night. Your bookmark will
be checked on Friday.
Our schoolwide rules are simple: "Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Ready."
Always make good behavior choices to earn Bee Bucks. But remember that the
best reward for good behavior is the feeling inside that tells you that you
are making good choices and doing the right thing.
Be sure to share all the "100s" you earned this week. Your parents would
like to hear about the Treasure Chest! You are truly Great Kids!
