Homework

            
           The homework assignments are written on the board for the students
to copy in their planners each day.  The assignments will also be on this 
site daily except when I am absent or the system is down.  Please check your
child's planner daily to see if they are writing their assignments in the 
planner.

Today, we had a swap day with  3rd grade to introduce them to the 4th grade
teachers.  Our students went back to see their 3rd grade teachers for a few
minutes.

We had annual signing time and extra recess.

Tomorrow is our HABITS time and our 4th grade picnic.  The picnic is at 11:35
and parents are welcome to come.

We are not having classes any this week.

Today was Career Day, and the students enjoyed hearing from the different
speakers about what they do each day in their jobs.  Thanks to all the parents
who gave their time to come today.

We also went to the A.R. bookstore for the last time this year.  Remember to
encourage your child to read this summer.

I did a book inventory today.  If you child still has any textbooks at home,
please send them to school tomorrow.

We also had an hour of recess today to make up for the lost time of field day
due to the stormy weather.  The students enjoyed this, but it was quite hot!!

Social Studies - During class, the students answered questions for lesson 3
                 which we read and discussed yesterday.
                 HW - Study the vocabulary words for a quiz on Thursday.
                      These are the words from chapter 14 of the old book.

Spelling - The students completed workbook page 110 during class.
           HW - Study the words.

Social Studies - During class, the students answered questions for lesson 1 of
                 chapter 14 in the old book.  This is about the Civil War.  We
                 then read and discussed lesson 3 on pages 520-527.
                 HW - Study for a vocabulary quiz on Thursday.  This is over
                      the words that are in chapter 14 of the old book.

Spelling - Our words for this week are words with the suffixes of less, ment,
           and ness.  Students were given their word lists and completed
           workbook page 109 during class and then started working on their
           homework.
           HW - Put all words in ABC order and study for Friday's test.
                The words are:

There were no classes today due to part of Mrs. McDonald's, Mrs. Grizzard's,
and Mrs. Maness's classes going on the field trip to the Hermitage.  I was 
very pleased with this week's and last week's docent groups.  They did a
fantastic job and represented Lakeview very well.  Thank you for all your hard
work!!!!

I also would like to thank all of the students for the hard work they did on 
the Living History projects.  All of you did an excellent job at the program
last night!!!

Social Studies - We finished putting the Living History displays together
                 during class today.  Remember to come to the P.T.O. meeting
                 tonight at 6:00 to see these displays.  The students did a
                 wonderful job!

Social Studies  - We read and discussed pages 507-513 from the old social
                  studies book, and the students started answering questions
                  for these pages.  They will finish these on Monday.  I gave
                  them the vocabulary words for this chapter.  There are 11
                  words, and we will have a quiz next Wednesday over these
                  words.
                  HW - Study the vocabulary words.

Spelling - The students completed workbook pages 107/108 during class.
           HW - study the words.

REMEMBER:  The P.T.O. program is tomorrow night at 6:00.  Students that are to
           be part of the Living History display should be here at 5:30.

           We completed workbook page 101 together, and then the students
           completed workbook page 102.  The test this week will be over the
           first 10 words only.
           HW - Put all 25 words in ABC order.  Study the first 10 words for 
                the test on Friday.

Social Studies - We discussed the Living History P.T.O. program, and I
                 assigned a person in history to each child.  They will be
                 working in groups on this project, but each person should
                 do research on their own.  The research paper that I gave to
                 them should be finished by Monday of next week.  We also
                 started working on an Andrew Jackson booklet in preparation
                 for our trip to the Hermitage.
                 HW - work on the Living History research project

                 told of his life story.

Social Studies - We worked on TCAP review during class today.

                      on Tuesday, 4/13.

Spelling - HW - Finish writing the words two times.  On the 2nd time, divide
                the words into syllables.  Use a dictionary.  Study the words
                for the test tomorrow.

Social Studies - We read and discussed pages 342-349 in chapter 14.  This is
                 the entire chapter.  We will not be having a test over this
                 chapter, but we will have a vocabulary quiz next Tuesday.  
                 The students were given 11 vocabulary words for this chapter.
                 HW - Study the vocabulary words for a quiz on Tuesday, 4/13.

Spelling - The spelling words for this week are multisyllabic words.  During
           class, we went over the words and their meanings.

Social Studies - We checked and corrected the answers for lesson 4, and then
                 the students worked in groups to answer the questions on the
                 review sheet for the chapter test.  We will check these
                 tomorrow.

                      The chapter test is Thursday, 4/1.  The chapter 13 
                      folders are due on Thursday.

Social Studies - Students finished completing the questions for lesson 1, and
                 then we checked and corrected these.  I gave them the
                 vocabulary cards for this chapter to start studying for the
                 quiz which is next week.  I also gave them a few minutes to
                 work on their maps.
                 HW - Color and label a map about the Civil War.  This is due
                      on Friday, 3/26.
                      Study the vocabulary words for the quiz on Wednesday,
                      3/31.
                      The chapter 13 test is Thursday, 4/1.

Spelling - The students completed workbook pages 89 and 90 during class and
           completed a word card.
           HW - Finish the word card if not completed during class and study
