Can I e-mail you at school?

Yes, you may. I check my messages frequently, since this is the
way the
administration and other school staff communicate with the
teachers. I will
reply to let you know I got your mail. If I do not reply, assume
that I did not get a message from you.

What time does our class eat lunch?

Our lunch time is 10:44 - 11:14. Please feel free to join us for
lunch! If
you want to eat lunch with your child, please sign in at the
office and meet
us at the cafeteria doors.

May I bring treats on my child's birthday?

Yes you may!! Please send something that can be passed out by
your child.
No cupcakes please - cookies or brownies are fine. We will pass
these out in
the classroom.

What happens if my child gets sick at school?

I have a thermometer in our classroom and will take the child's
temperature. Your child will be sent to the nurse if complaining
or has a
fever. The nurse will be the one to call you to come and pick up
your child.

May my child bring a water bottle?

Yes. I ask that it be a bottle with a pop-top so to help prevent
spills.
If it becomes a distraction to your child or to the other
children, I will
ask your child not to bring one. Also, please do not put the
bottle in the
freezer because it will melt and drip all over the table. Thanks!

What can I do to help my child?

1. Check their homework EVERY day! Have them make corrections
when
necessary. 2.Check daily for any graded work and have them make
corrections on it, too. 3.Read daily with your child as well as
encouraging independent reading. 4. Practice and drill math
facts with them.

How often is homework and how long should we be spending on it?

Homework is daily with the exception of Friday. Your child
should not be
spending any more than 45 minutes on homework a night. (Probably
not even
close to that long). If it is taking longer than that, please let
me know.
Try to work out a routine to do homework each day.

How can I help my child become a better reader?

Read, read, read. Practice makes the child a better reader.
Read to your
child also, to model fluency.

Is it possible to check out another library book other than on our library day

Yes. Your child may get another book each day. If you finish
that book and
wish to choose another book, you may go to the library each day.

Is there anything our class needs?

Yes, please! We could use little toys, trinkets, and/or candy
treats for
our treasure box. Also, items for our ticket sale that we have
at the end
of each month. Magazines that we can cut words and pictures from
are always
helpful. If you'd like to send napkins or snacks for me to keep
on hand for
children who forget their snack, that would also be helpful!!
