Welcome to Mrs. Hudson's 5th grade class!
**** CHANGE IN DATE FOR THE COVERED DISH DINNER**** (see new date below)
We cannot believe that the holidays will soon be upon us! The end of the second nine weeks is
Friday, December 11th. Report cards will go home on Wednesday, December 16th. Please return
them signed by December 18th. Our last day of school before the holiday break begins will be
Friday, December 18th and we dismiss early, at 10AM. The busses will run as normal, but if you
pick-up your child, please be sure to be here in the carpool line by 10AM.
This year, we have decided as a class to give to two families less fortunate than ourselves (one
family with a boy, one with a girl). We are going to try to make one “food box” full of non-perishable
food items in it (canned goods, boxed dinners, rices, soups, etc), and one “winter clothing box”
(coats, scarves, gloves, fleeces, boots, etc) for each child-also filled with school supplies (paper,
pencils, etc). These winter clothing items can be ‘brand new’ or ‘slightly used’ (see clothing sizes for
each class below). They have also requested gift cards from Wal-Mart/Target, so we will be
collecting money for these as well (we will take all monetary donations and buy gift cards to put in a
card for the family). We will put all items collected in a big wrapped boxes and present it to the
families on Tuesday, December 15th at a covered dish dinner held at CHUE at 6pm. You are all
invited to attend! Please let us know if you plan to attend and what kind of ‘dish’ you will bring by
December 4th . We will be accepting these items anytime between now and December 11th. We
need all items turned in by December 11th in order to organize, box, wrap, etc. by the 15th. If you
are in Mrs. Hudson’s homeroom, but have items that better fit the profile of Mrs. Belcher’s adopted
family (and vice versa) it is fine to send in those items too-just indicate to which room/family they
need to go to.
We will have a Holiday Party Breakfast on Friday, December 18th. We will send home a sign-up
list for goodies we will need when it is closer to the party. This will help us better plan for the fun
party!
We would like to thank you ALL for your support and involvement from home. You make our
jobs easier and we are so grateful for all that you do for the children that we share! Happy Holidays
from our home to yours!
