I have been teaching at Sam Houston since 1999. I taught kindergarten for 3
years before becoming a pre-k teacher. My childhood was spent mostly in
Southern California but after I got married we moved to Texas, Tennessee,
back to California and finally returned to Tennessee. I am married and have
3 grown children, 2 wonderful girls who both work in the health care field
and a son who I am proud to say is a Corporal in the U.S. Marines. I have
two beautiful grandsons, Collin who is 5 and Dylan is two years old.
I believe my class is a warm, safe, inviting, and creatively stimulating
place where children can begin to learn the basics for school. Our class
learns through music, songs, puppets, art, and physical movement. We put a
lot of emphasis on the following: reading, listening, following the rules,
cooperating with others, and sharing. In Pre-K we are learning to recognize
the letters in our names, numbers, colors, shapes, as well as other
fine/gross motor skills like cutting, writing, skipping, and kicking a ball.
