Ask the TeacherFrequently Asked Questions
What day will my child begin school? We will begin home visits the week of August 3rd. You will receive a phone call to set up a day and time for our visit. At the home visit you will choose a day for your child to come to "Phase-In". Phase-in are days that 4 - 5 children will come and get an idea of what happens in our classroom on a daily basis. I will be testing the children to see where to begin their individualized learning. All 20 children will begin school on August 11. What time does school begin and end? Our day begins at 8:00 and ends at 1:30. Children may be brought to the classroom at 7:45. What does my child need to bring to school? Do they need supplies? Children need to bring a backpack, change of clothes, and a small towel or blanket for quiet time. A folder will be sent home each day with important information, notes from the teacher/school, and your child's artwork. It is very important that you check their folder because it lets you know what they have learned at school and it gives us a way to communicate with you. Does my child need to bring food for snacks or meals? No. All food is provided by the school system. We provide well-balanced meals for both breakfast and lunch. What time is breakfast and lunch? Breakfast will be served between 7:45 and 8:15 a.m. Lunch will be served at 11:30. What should I do if I would like to eat with my child? You are always welcome to eat with us. Please call or send in a note to let us know you will be eating with us, so we can add you to our lunch count. Where do I drop my child off when I bring them to school? It is a state law that preschool children be signed in/out of school so children can not be dropped off. An adult must bring your child to the classroom and sign them in. Be sure to let friends and relatives know who may be dropping off your child or picking them up that they will need to sign them in/out. What if I would like to go on a field trip with my child? Please let me know you want to join us by checking the appropriate box on the Field Trip form or by a phone call. If your child has a fever of 99 or higher, please keep him or her at home. In order for him or her to return to school, he or she must be free of fever for 24 hours. How will I know if school is closed? Our schedule for school openings and closings follow along with the Lebanon Special School District. We will always let you know our schedule with our monthly calendar and newsletters. If there is bad weather please check your local television station and if "Lebanon City Schools" are closed we are closed. What if I need to talk to you? You may contact us through our school phone number, which is 547-0119. If you leave a message with your name and call back number, I will get back to you as soon as possible. Also feel free to send a note to me in your child's take home folder. In the event of an emergency, please call 443-1946. |
