PreK Report
Monday, October 20

Notes for Home:
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday, October 28th. We will place a sign-up sheet near
our sign-in book the week following fall break. Friday will be cap day. Please send your child to school
with a favorite cap in his or her backpack. We will be having a Halloween Parade the day of Halloween.
Please send your child to school in his or her costume along with a change of clothes in his or her
backpack for changing. Thank you to all our families for working with your child on the Nursery Rhyme
Folder. If you will place it in your child’s backpack as you finish with it, we will place a new rhyme
inside it each Friday to send home.

Theme Time:
The theme following fall break will be “The Five Senses.” Students will read stories about how people
use their favorite senses. We will be learning about each sense individually and the body parts
associated with each.

Field Trip News:
We will be going to Wes Farms on Thursday, October 30th at 9:30am.

New Vocabulary:
Our new vocabulary includes marionette and stethoscope.

Upcoming Events:
Monday, October 20th: Return to school
Wednesday, October 22nd: WB&T Bank Day
Tuesday, October 28th: Parent-Teacher Conferences from 2-7pm
Wednesday, October 29th: Read A Thon collection day
Friday, October 31st: Halloween Parade at school and Halloween Party

Think and Talk Time:
The following are questions you may ask your child at home about what he or she is learning:
1. What parts of your body do you use to see?
2. What parts of your body do you use to touch?
3. What sounds do you hear?
4. What are some words beginning with the letter C?

Focus Letter and Concepts:
We will be learning more about the letter C. We will learn what sound C makes and words beginning
with C by sorting clothes beginning with C, playing the copycat game, making calico cats, and sorting
caps. Please send a cap to school on Friday with your child for this activity.

Parent/Child Time:
Play a guessing game with your child using the five senses by using sensory words such as, “I hear...”, “I
see...”, etc. Go on a C hunt labeling objects around the house beginning with C. Enjoy!
