As a Title I interventionist at Sam Houston, I am a co-workers with the
classroom teacher. Together, we make every effort to meet the needs of
individual students who may require additional assistance with reading
skills and/or language skills.
During the 2011-2012 school year, I am working with selected 2nd and
3rd grade students. I may go into the classroom, or students may come
to the Title I Room for small group instruction. In the small group setting,
students share a common need at a particular time. The groups are flexible
and may change as students' needs change. Various strategies are used to
strengthen reading and/or language skills. We focus on basic print concept,
phonemic awareness, comprehension, and fluency. This program does not
replace any classroom instruction. I work with the classroom teacher and
students to support students and promote their success.
