Welcome Back!
It is so good to see everyone back to school. Here are a few things going on right now that you will want
to know about…..
1. We are setting up our agendas for daily use. Please make sure your child brings theirs everyday. If
you haven’t yet purchased one they are $5.00. These are a great way for you and I to communicate
about your child’s progress. Agenda’s also help to keep kids organized. Please make sure you sign
your child’s agenda nightly.
2. In fourth grade we ask that students read 20 minutes every night. What they read is up to them but I
do suggest spending time with an A.R. book as often as possible. Please record this on the reading log
in the student binders.
3. In my class I allow students to bring in a snack that we eat before lunch. I also ask for volunteers to
send in snacks from time to time so that if a child forgets his or her snack we have something to give
out. Some good snack options are pretzels, animal crackers, or any other type of cracker. If you can,
please send something in we can use for the entire class.
4. This year we are using a new school wide behavior plan. Ask your child what P.A.W.S. means (it is
part of our new system). There will be a letter sent home that explains this system in detail. I am
excited how this new system focuses so much on positive behavior.
I am looking forward to a great new year here at Sam Houston with your child. If you have any question
please feel free to call or send in a note.
Thanks,
Mr. Clarady
