Art is my advocation, vocation and profession- I do it, teach it and live it!
Please follow me through the days with the children as we create new worlds of
visual understandings. Our classroom art always has a literature base with a
logical movement through stories, science, math and history. Every artist
featured has a purpose and a timeline with the matching medias for drawing,
painting,and sculpture etc.
Personally, I will draw, paint, and weave anything.....I started doing
portrait sketches, lettering boats and pin stripping at fourteen and large
wall murals by the time I was 18. I will literally teach
them while they are young and fun.
I have twenty years experience in the classroom as well and have taught
classes in junior colleges and workshops. I am a lifelong lover
of art who considers teaching art a lifestyle rather than a profession (my
advocation is my vocation).
I have recently completed (May 2009) a three day workshop at the Appalachian
Crafts Center with Melody Tiemann on handbuilt ceramics. Last June 2009, I
attended a three day workshop on portraits with the Russian master Igor
Babailov. I will be showing her artwork in the Cumberland University Autumn
Arts Festival.
On each grade level we shall explore every possible artistic approach to a
subject and the appropriate media techniques involved in the process. We will
know what has been done (Art History) in the past and present. The quest is
the mission.
