Will my child need any supplies for Pre K?

Yes, your child will need a backpack to carry his/her artwork and Take Home Folder to and from school, a small blanket or towel for rest time, and a change of clothes.

When will school begin?

We will be visiting your home during the week of August 3rd-August 7th, therefore your child will come to school for the first time during the week of August 10th-14th. This week is known as "Phase In". During Phase In week, each parent will select one day out of the week, that best meets their schedule, for their child to become acquainted to the classroom and our daily schedule. All students will report to school on August 17th.

How long can I stay with my child on the first day?

Please know that we understand how hard it may be for you and your child to "let go" on the first day of school, therfore we ask that you keep your good-byes to a minimum of 5 minutes, in order for us to properly begin our day. If your child begins to cry and appears to have a difficult time with the seperation process, you may be asked to leave in order for us to do our jobs.

What time does school begin?

School will begin each day at 7:45am. Students will arrive between 7:45am and 8:00am.

Where will I drop off and pick up my child?

By state law, all Pre K students MUST be signed in/out by a parent, guardian, daycare affiliate, and or family member (using their first and last name). In the morning time, parents and students must access the classroom using the back entrance. Look for the sign that says "LSSD/WCCL Pre K", go through the fence, up the ramp, and through the Pre K entrance. In the afternoon all students will be dismissed from the front hallway of the WCCL. Parents will be to expected to remain in their cars until the double doors to the front hallway have been opened for afternoon dismisal.

What if I need to pick up my child early?

For your convienance, there wil be a door bell outside of the Pre K entrance. The Pre K entrance will be opened and unlocked from 7:45am-8:20am. If your child is late or needs to be picked up early please notify us by sending a note in your child's Take Home Folder or by phone. Sending us a note in your child's Take Home Folder or calling us ahead of time will allow us to prepare your child for an early dismissal.

What time is breakfast and lunch?

Breakfast will be served from 7:45am-8:15am. It is important that your child arrive to school on time to ensure your child plenty of time to eat. Lunch will be served at 10:55am.

Does my child need to bring food or snack for meals?

Not at all! All food is provided by the school system. We provide well-balanced meals for both breakfast and lunch. Please see the "Meal Policy" section of the Pre K Handbook for specific guidelines.

What should I do if I would like to eat with my child?

We encourage and invite you to eat breakfast or lunch with us at anytime, however we ask that you give us 2-3 weeks to become acquainted with our breakfast and lunch routine. If you would like to eat breakfast or lunch with us, please notify us by phone, email, or note from your child, so we can add you to our breakfast/lunch count.

What if I would like to go on a field trip with my child?

By state law, we are required to take at least 4 adults on EVERY field trip. This includes: Mrs. Amy, Mrs. Tiffany, and two other adults, therefore we encourage you to sign up for at least one field trip throughout the school year. Generally, we are only allowed to have 2 adults on the bus, therefore you must sign up by email, phone, or on your child's permission slip. All parent request to accompany us on the bus are through a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS.

What if my child is sick?

Attendance is a top priority, however we understand that children will get sick from time to time. If your child has a fever of 99 or higher, please keep her/him at home. In order for her/him to return to school they must be free of a fever for 24 hours. If your child is absent consecutively you may be asked to provide a doctor's note.

How will I know if school is closed?

Our schedule for school openings and closings follows along with the Lebanon Special School District. A more specific schedule will be provided for you in the Weekly Newsletter and through our on-line calender. If there is inclement weather, please check your local television station. If "Lebanon Special Schools" are closed or delayed we will be closed or delayed as well.
