2nd Grade News
August 29th-September 1st
***Remember to sign every night in your child's agenda what he/she read for 15/20
minutes. Your child may get new library books each morning if they read them
the night before. Also, our P.E. days are on Mondays and Tuesdays. Please make sure your child
wears tennis shoes on those days for their safety.
Spelling- We will be focusing on Long and Short "I" for Spelling this
week. Please look over these words with your child every night. We will be
taking a test on Friday.
Math- We will be focusing on Numbers to 1,000 in our Magic
Math classes this week.
Writing-We will be focusing on Subjects and Predicates. We will also be focusing on Personal
Narratives.
Basal- Our basal story this week will be Meeting Rosina. Our skill will be identifying the Main Idea
and Details.
Social Studies- We will be discussing cultures this week.
*We will have weekly "I Can" statements that enforce what we are learning in
the classroom! Thank you for your support!*
* I can distinguish between long and short vowel words.
* I can write a narrative from beginning to end.
* I can write a complete simple and compound sentence.
* I can compare numbers using <,>, and =.
* I can recognize a number using place value, number names, and expanded form.
* I can identify the main idea and details of a story.
