In 1985, I graduated from Chattanooga State Technical Community College
with an Associated Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. Prior to
returning to school to attain my Bachelor Degree, I worked in various
daycares in the Chattanooga and Knoxville area. I graduated from Cumberland
University in 1991 with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. I began my
teaching career at Sam Houston, where I have been there for 13 years. This
year will be my 13th year teaching at Sam Houston. Previously I taught 1st
and 2nd grade at Sam Houston, however I have been teaching kindergarten for
the past 9 years.
In my spare time, I like reading, church activities, working on the
computer, and being around my family and friends. My four nephews keep me
very busy as well! My parents live in Oliver Springs, Tennessee, which is
right outside of Knoxville. (Go Vols!) My sister and her family live in
Chattanooga and my 2 brothers live in Lebanon with their families. I am
not married and do not have any children, but God has blessed me with
children, family and friends!
I believe that all children deserve a classroom where the atomosphere is
nurturing and friendly with lots of praise. I want to make this a very
special year for your child and provide a strong foundation for future
learning. I want the children in my class to develop and/or maintain a love
for learning. I encourage a positive and cooperative attitude in our
classroom/school. I wish for every child to have success everyday and leave
school looking forward to our next day together at school.
