Parent Messages
Our internet and email access is finally up and running! If you are interested, you can go to our website and check out some of the updates
we’ve made thus far. You can check us out at www.lssd.org click on schools, teacher webpages, Coles Ferry, and Ms. Tiffany.
We’d like to give a special thank you to the following parents that attended our first field trip: Ms. Bowen (Xandria’s Mom), Ms. Dawn (Jalin’s
Mom), Ms. Jennifer (Damiyan’s Mom), Ms. Laurel (Damiyan’s Nana), Ms. Jamille (Taylor’s Mom), Ms. Torria (Namyah’s Mom), Ms. Nadiyah
(Nyleah’s Mom), and Ms. Schanta (Isaihs Mom). Ms. Lataka and I really appreciate your attendance and know how much it means to your child to
have you there.
On Tuesday, August 26th, we will be having Open House from 6pm to 8pm. This will give you an opportunity to take a tour of our classroom,
see how much learning is really going on, and grab something from our wishlist. Also on Tuesday, we will be going to Coles Ferry for the
“Primary Focus” assembly. If you have not returned your child’s permission slip or need an additional one, please let me know by Monday. Your
child will not be able to attend without one.
Next Thursday, August 28th the Lebanon Special School District and the Lebanon Church of God will be hosting an introduction meeting for a
new program called “Parents As Teachers”. This is a program that’s designed to teach parents how to facilitate learning at home.
On Monday, we will begin checking each student for head lice. Please remember that if you have been contacted to pick up your child, please do
so promptly. Your child must be evaluated by the school nurse at Coles Ferry before returning to school. Also, all blankets will be sent home
today. Please wash them and return them on Monday.
Because next week will be a short week, we will not have show and tell.

Theme Report
Our theme this week was “All About Me”. We got a chance to learn more about our friends and talk about what makes us special!
Focus Letter and Concepts
This week, we continued to select students as our “special person” of the day. As we continue to introduce the letters of the alphabet, each
student will get an opportunity to be the “special person”. As we interview our friends, we will learn more about them as well as their names.
We will be spelling our names, what rhymes with our names, how many letters are in our names, and how many syllables are in our names.
Also, we played games such as: “If your name is on the plate” and “If this letter’s in your name” The students really enjoyed these games and
surprised us with how many students recognized their name in print. This week, our special people of the week were Jalin, Damiyan, and
Santana. We also reviewed letter recognition and syllabilcation with our nursery rhyme of the week. Our nursery rhyme was “One, Two, Buckle
My Shoe”. Ask your child to sing or recite it!
Parent and Child Time
The following questions are things you can ask your child at home about what he/she is learning:
1. What did you read about today?
2. What are the names of some of your new friends?
3. How can you help a friend at school?
Write your child’s name of a piece of paper. Point and name the letters in his or her name. Ask your child to trace the letters with his or her
finger. If your child can already write his or her name, ask him or her to hunt around the house for other words with the same letters that are in
his or her name.
