Schedule

Each LMS homeroom comes to guidance for a class once per week.
The remainder of the day is available for individual and small group
counseling.

For first nine weeks weekly lessons for each grade will be as follows:

On September 15, LMS will have a guest speaker on the topic of Bullying! To
coincide with this guidance classes throughout the school will focus on
Bullying for the first 2 weeks of September. LMS is very clear that we are
a "NO Bullying" school! We want all students to feel safe. During these
classes and the assembly students will learn to identify bullying (versus
the occasional teasing all students encounter) and what to do in such cases.
Parents and students are urged to report any insistances of bullying to LMS
administration.

5th We will be getting to know each other. Students will make a special
news page about themselves. We will also focus on adjusting to middle
school and appropriate study skills.

6th We will review study skills while focusing on organization and personal
responsibility. Students will be encouraged to keep an organized binder,
backpack and locker. They will be encouraged to use a planner to track
homework and grades. Parents can help by making sure students have these
supplies and use them. Encourage students to set aside an hour each day for
homework and take responsibility for completing homework independently.

7th We will cover more advanced study skills such as different ways to take
notes and study for unit and final tests. Students will learn several
different note taking styles. Much like reading, they will learn to listen
for main ideas and important details so they know what to put in notes.

8th We will practice taking the Explore test in class. This will help
prepare students for the actual test on October 29! Students
will take an actual test, score it and have time to look at what they
missed. This test along with TCAP and Thinklink are used to determine
placement in high school classes. Parents please encourage your student to
take this seriously!
