from, testing requirements, etc. This a great opportunity for us produce a
generation more prepared to face the challenges of today's job market. This
page links to you to the state's information and the Planning Your Dreams
site. Both have very useful information. All parents will want to get
familiar with the Planning Your Dreams site as it is used throughout high
school and beyond.
Information to specific to Livingston Academy can be found on the 8th Grade
Transition of LA documents page. It has LA's graduation requirements,
clusters LA offers, Freshman Courses and more.
I encourage you to take time to read this information and then call LMS or
LA School Counselors if you have questions. We all want this transition to
be smooth and successful for all our students.
Tennessee State Career Clusters
Tennessees secondary Career & Technical Education (CTE) Division has
adopted the National Career Clusters model of 16 career clusters and has
developed programs of study within these clusters. Technological advances
and global competition have transformed the nature of work. Tomorrow's jobs
will require more knowledge, better skills, and more flexible workers than
ever before. Tomorrow's workers must be prepared to change jobs and careers
several times, continually updating their knowledge and skills.
Please note that LA will offer Programs of Study in 13 of the 16 clusters.

Tennessee College and Career Planning
Use the Tennessee College and Career Planning System to assess your
interests, skills, and work values. Every Overton County student has access
to this site, free of charge. The username is the students first initial,
last initial and last 4 digits of SNN Ex: vf8888. Password is Overton.
All 8th grade students
will have taken an interest inventory on this site by December to help them
choose a Career Cluster and Program of Study. This is just to help guide
them; they get to choose.
Students can research colleges and careers on this site. You can look for
scholarships. It has a resume builder to keep track of honors/activities
for that future resume. You can even apply for financial aid when the time
comes through this site. The timeline shows us parents what we need to help
our children do each year of school so that they will be on track for
postsecondary education. You can't tear the site up, so just click away to
see what all it offers!
