               AM Skill # 42  Determine the percent a whole number is of another whole number, with a
                                      result less than 100%
               AM Skill # 43  Determine a whole number given a part and a percentage less than 100%
                  1.  Complete and discuss bellwork.
                  2.  Practice setting up the percent equation and then solving it.
             HW:  Workbook page 104 #1-13

                     3.  Review the % equation, then quiz over objectives #40-43 (see above)
                     4.  Introduce % of increase and decrease.

Thursday  1.  Complete and discuss bellwork.
                2.  Practice finding the percent of increase and decrease on individual whiteboards.

                            Practice #11-22 on whiteboards from page 352.  Move on to word problems.

Classwork:

1.  Complete and discuss bellwork.  Scan homework if necessary.

2.  Grade/discuss hw.

3.  Practice finding discount and sales tax on Christmas items.

Monday  1.  Complete and discuss bellwork.
               2.  Check over/discuss homework - how to set up proportion word problems.
               3.  Scan hw.  If correct, work on puzzle.  If incorrect, continue to practice solving proportions and 
                    writing proportions from word problems.
         HW:  AM practice for selected students who haven't passed work in class.
 
Tuesday   1.  Complete and discuss bellwork.
                2.  Scan hw.
                3.  Quiz over objectives:  #35: Solve a proportion with a decimal.
                                                       #36: Word Problems: Write and solve a proportion
                                                       #37: Estimating a population by solving a proportion. 
                  HW:  none
 
Wednesday    1.  Complete and discuss bellwork.
                      2.  New Skill: Using a proportion to find distances on a map.
                               a.  Practice using a ruler on interactive website. (See Class Activities)
                               b.  Use a ruler to measure a distance on website (See Class Activities)
                               c.   Use proportions to find distances - individual practice.

Thursday:  1.  Complete and discuss bellwork.

                 3.  Find map scale (AM #38) and set up map scale proportions (AM # 39)  from word
                      problems.
               CW:  AM exercise on map scale and word problems with map scale and proportion.
 
Friday   No class!  The students who completed all their homework during the second six weeks are 
            eligible to attend a free UTM basketball game.  Congratulations to all who made it! 
 
 
                                                     November 9 - Week One                                                               
 
 Monday   1.  Complete and discuss bellwork.
                 2.  Practice identifying equivalent ratios (#34).  Determine proportionality (#35).
              Classwork: Complete exercise over skills - # 33 & 34.  Highest grade earned for the day
                    will be recorded.
         HW:  Individualized AM as needed over # 33 and 34.
          Quiz tomorrow over #30-34
                #30  Ratios as fractions, lowest terms
                #31  Ratios as rates, lowest terms
                #32  Unit Rates
                #33  Equivalent Ratios
                #34  Ratios as Proportions

Tuesday  Quiz over # 30, 31, 32, 33, and 34.  The students have those grades with them.

Wednesday  New Skill: #35  Solve proportions
                    1.  Complete and discuss bellwork.
                    2.  Practice cross multiplying and then dividing to solve the proportion.  Each student will 
                    practice on an individual whiteboard.  Students will take turns going to the smartboard,
                   blackboard, and overhead to work out the problems.
           HW:  edHelper handout over solving proportions.

Thursday   1.  Complete and discuss bellwork.
                 2.  Grade/discuss homework.
                 3.  Practice solving proportions on AM.
                 4.  Begin to write proportions from word problems.
           HW: none

Friday    1.  Complete and discuss bellwork.
              2.  As a class, we will practice writing proportions from a powerpoint on individual
                   whiteboards.
              3.  Individual work:  Personalized AM practice.
