The internet is great, but teachers are extremely limited by the amount of
time we have to sift through everything available on the web.
Below, you will find links to sites that I have stumbled across over the
last several years. Everything on here is free, effective, and easy to use!
This list is by no means comprehensive - it is just my attempt to share some
things I found useful and hopefully save you some time!

Begin this powerpoint display 5 minutes before class - it counts down the
time and saves you from trying to get the kids seated and quiet before the

Microsoft offers free educational templates on their website. You can
download letters to parents, powerpoint presentations, power point
templates, permission slip.... a little bit of everything.

are already done. Click on your subject area and download what you need.
Jefferson County Schools' Power Point Site
This site offers access to lots of sites!!! Free fonts, free templates,
powerpoing presentations, interactive games for all subject areas. It will
take you some time to look through it, but the material is worth it!
Jefferson Couny School Site
Great game to practice converting basic improper fractions. Great to assign
as independent practice. The kids earn money by completing ice cream orders
correctly.
Proper/Improper Fraction Conversion Game
Funny exercise in substituting and solving expressions. Turn on the sound
to hear the dog bark.
Solving Expressions Game
Interactive game from BBC maths file that practices ordering integers. 3
levels, funny graphics. Check out the guy's pants as he climbs the ladder.
The kids love it!
Ordering Integers
Awesome list for math teachers! I don't know who she is, but she has
compiled an extremely useful list of games/tutorial sites and then organized
them by subject. VERY HELPFUL!!
Mrs. King's List
You are given a coordinate plane and a line. As you change the slope and
the y intercept, the equation and the line change to show the results. Very
helpful in modeling the concept.

A good introduction to frequency tables and data collection. Great
graphics - from BBC maths file.

Matching Game for 7th - 8th grade order of operations classes. Uses
integers.
Order of Operations with Integers
These are awesome powerpoints to download and customize. They are
professional looking and have sound. Easy to use once you get the hang of
it!
Powerpoint Games
The best times table practice I've seen. The graphics are awesome.. like a
video game. There are two versions - the free one is great, but doesn't
have as many graphics as the other.
Big Brainz Multiplication Table Practice
Many games offered to play with the kids after you've introduced a concept.
They like the graphics.
BBC Maths File Games
Handout with number lines on it. I included it because I couldn't find any
to use when we taught graphing inequalities.
Number Line paper
Manipulate numbers in order to make the greatest number possible.
Place Value Game
For a fee of about $25 a year, the people at Teacherweb will help you
maintain a website. They have done all of the internet language stuff - you
just pay them and then customize their web pages by clicking and typing in
text boxes. Very easy! An excellent communication tool between home and
school!

Square Root Matching Game
The yearly cost is $45, but you can sign up for a month long free trial.
The site allows you to type problems/answers or definitions quickly. It
automatically generates flashcards, a concentration game, and a matching
game. It creates a URL that you give to your kids. Great way to review for
a test of to practice solving problems.
Quia Website
CHECK THIS OUT! The site is Canadian based - enter as a guest. They have
done a great job of organizing the math skills needed by grade and then
creating online, interactive units. There are mini videos with sound and
great graphics. Very useful!
Learn Alberta Website
Weakley County bought a subscription to this and it is great! The kids
really like it.
Brainpop
Some schools already have a subscription to this - it runs about $1500 per
building. You can sign up for a 30 day free trial, though. If you like it,
I guess you could pester your librarian! Individual memberships are
available for around $200.
The site contains 10,000+ video along with teacher resources for the clips.
The clips are of different lengths and there is a search engine that helps
you find what you are looking for. The site also contains 1000s of images
that you can use in powerpoint presentations.
United Streaming
Solve +, X, -, / problems by dragging numbers onto a grid. Great for kids
who don't want to work out problems or who have trouble lining up decimal
places.
'Draggable Math'
Fill pizza orders by getting making equivalent fractions based on pizza size.
Pizza Topping Game
Identify the pirate with the given place value and win a sword fight. Great
for younger kids or a quick review. Good graphis - neat music.
Place Value Pirates
Kill aliens by shooting throwing magic calculator at the correct decimal
conversion. Problems get harder as the game progresses.
