Subtraction Poem: (memorize this poem for regrouping with subtraction)
When there's more on top,
No need to stop!

More on the floor?
Go next door,
and get 10 more!

If the number's the same,
Zero's the game!

Math Facts: The students will have 5 minutes to complete 50 subtraction
facts.
When completing 50 in 5 minutes, the students can miss no more than 7. As
time progresses the students will have to do 100 problems in 10 minutes.
When completing 100 in 10 minutes, the students can miss no more than 15. In
both cases the student is allowed to make up only one test. Therefore, they
can fail one test and they will be allowed to retake that particular test.
The great reward is a PIZZA PARTY HOPEFULLY!!!

The sequence is as follows: (Test is given on TUESDAYS now) First one on
THURSDAY!

Week 1: -1 and -2 done
Week 2: -2 and -3 done
Week 3: -3 and -4 done
Week 4: -4 and -5 (Nov. 24)
Week 5: -5 and -6 (Dec. 1)

Week 8: -8 and -9 ???

Special Reminder:
TCAP Practice for Math and Reading should always come home to parents. In
Math the TCAP practice is only about 5-7 problems (it says Standardized Test
Prep; the page is in color). In reading, there will always be 12 questions
(it says TCAP Format Weekly Assessment). Reading TCAP practice is always for
a grade. Practice this packet as I send them home. This will keep the
students fresh on standardized testing skills and formats, RATHER than trying
to cram things at the last minute. Lets be proactive!

Homework policy: All homework must be submitted the next day for a grade.

Every Monday there will be a colored page with our weekly skills for each
subject. I want to ensure each parent is fully aware of what is going on in
the classroom.
Please try and work with your child at home on the skills we are covering at
school. There are some links provided on my teacher web that may help
you as well. If you need more assistant send me an email please.
