Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Our class is really having a
wonderful time learning about the First Thanksgiving and the life and
customs of the Pilgrims and Indians. We are very exciting about our class
feast at Mrs. Claire's home on Tuesday. We will be dressing up as Indians.
December will be a short month due to Christmas break. We will have a
Christmas craft day in several weeks to allow the children to make ornaments
for their tree at home. I could use several parents helping on this day.
If you are interested in this please let me know. I do not have a date yet
but will get that to you soon. Our class Chirstmas party will be Wednesday,
December 19th. We will have snacks and the children will exchange gifts
with one another. The boys need to buy a $5.00 boy gift and the girls need
to buy a $5.00 girl gift. I will place numbers on the presents and the
children will draw a number for their gift. We will dismiss early on
Wednesday. Their will be no After School Day Care provided on this day.
You must make arrangements for your child to ride the bus or be in the car
line on this day. School will depart around 10:45 a.m. on this day. The
children will be out for break from Thursday December 20th until Wednesday,
January 2, 2008.
We have also started the "Book It" club in our classroom. This is a
great way for the children to be rewarded for their efforts in reading.
Make sure to have your child read their book from their reading bag each
night. You must also remember to sign the sheet saying your child has read
their story. Once a child has read 15 books, then the reading group teacher
will give them a coupon for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. Then
the children begin the process again for another free pizza. Please support
your children in this program. I want them to love reading and become great
readers.
Always check your child's folder each night for graded papers or notes
that I might have sent home. Please feel free to contact me by phone or
email if you ever have a concern or just need information. Let's continue
to work together to have a great school year!
