This week we are reading the story The Dot. Please practice our vocabulary
words and high frequency words at home with your child.
High Frequency words: colors, drew, over, sign, draw, great, and show.
Skills:
Long e spelled ea: as in seat, beat, lead, bead
Theme: Every story has one big idea. Good readers use things that have
happened to them in their own lives to help them understand the big idea of a
story.
Inflected Endings: as in happier, copied, studies,bumpier. Base words that
have a different spelling chnge before an ending is added. The y may change
to i.
Grammar:
Adjectives - An adjective tells about a person, place, animal or thing. It
is a describing word. Examples for adjectives for color and shape. white
paper, round dots, green markers, square boxes.

2. Doodle - a doodle is a scribble
3. Imagination - you can see things in your mind that aren't there or you
can think of unusual ideas.
4. Carve - to make by cutting.
5. Hobby - something people do for fun in their spare time.

7. Masterpiece - a great piece of art.
8. Sculptor - an artist who makes or carves things out of stone, wood,
metal, or another material.
