About The Teacher

NAME: Marcia Law

SCHOOL: Medina Elementary School

CLASS: Early Fives

SCHOOL PHONE: 783-3660

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as your child’s new
early fives teacher. My name is Marcia Law, and your child may call me Mrs.
Marcia. I have taught at Medina for 6 years, and I am excited about the
opportunity to teach your child this year.
My educational background begins with a bachelor’s degree in social work from
Lambuth College in 1978. I worked as a social worker in mental health centers
and psychiatric hospitals for several years. I “retired” in 1986 to raise our
three children. During my 15 years of retirement I did some substitute
teaching and decided to go back to school to become certified to teach. I
began this process in the year 2000, and earned my certification in December
2001. I taught fifth grade and second grade in Jackson before finding a great
home here at Medina Elementary School.
Personally, my husband, Steve, and I have been married for over 27 years.
Steve retired from the post office in December, but he has begun a new career
at the Southwest Tennessee Development District where he works with elderly
and disabled people. We have three children, Matthew (23), Lauren (21), and
Kathleen (20). Matt works as a welder and is now living and working in
Nashville. Last year he began taking classes at Nashville State Community
College which makes me very happy. Lauren has completed her under graduate
degree in psychology at Lambuth University and Kathleen has completed her
sophomore year at Lambuth. She plans to become a Physical Therapist. I’m proud
of my family, and I brag on them every chance I get.
I’m really excited about this school year, and I look forward to working with
your child. I want to provide a great educational beginning for your child,
and I will look after and care for him/her as if he/she were my own child.
Please feel free to contact me if you have concerns or questions. My phone
number is 217-9491.

Mission For The Class

I strive to maintain a loving, but structured and disciplined environment in
which to help each child grow and learn to the best of his/her abilities. I
realize that all children are different and learn in different ways, and I
will try to find interesting and varied ways to help your child master skills
necessary for kindergarten and for life.
