Welcome

      RED RIBBON WEEK 2009
Red Ribbon Week is here!!!! This is a week we set aside to focus on teaching
our children the dangers of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. We also focus on
teaching them how to say No! to these items.

This week I will teach kindergarten and first grade "What is a drug?" We will
learn the drugs are anything that changes the way we feel. Second and Third
grade will learn how to say No in a positive manner.

This week we will also have dress up days to have fun while we learn that
drugs are not the way to go.

Monday, October 26th - Wear Red - Kick off to Red Ribbon Week
Tuesday, October 27th - We are too cool for drugs - wear sunglasses
Wednesday, October 28th - Follow your Dreams, Don't Do Drugs - students will
dress up as the career they want to be when they grow up.
Thursday, October 29th - Walk Away from Drugs - We will walk around the school
and have a balloon launch.
Friday, October 30th - Keep Your Head in the Game, Be Drug Free - Wear spirit
wear of the team of your choice.

New this year is a poster contest. It is open to all grades. Students need to
make a poster with anti-drug themes (like those above). Posters must be
original student work. Place your name, grade and teacher name on the back of
the poster. Posters are due Wednesday, October 28th to Mrs. Traci Tate.

I look forward to a GREAT week. As always if you have any questions please
feel free to contact me at 783-3660.
