Homework
Homework: Each student will have a homework folder that will be taken home
each night. In the left binder pocket, you will find classwork that can be
reviewed and "left" at home. In the right binder pocket, you will find
homework that needs to be completed and brought "right" back the next day.
Agendas: your child will be given an agenda the first week of school. The
agenda will be our main means of communication. On the top line (beside
SUNDAY), your child will write the title of the story we are reading for the
week. Homework assignments will be written in the agenda each day. On
the right page, I will correspond with you about your child's behavior.
You will also find Vocabulary Words and Spelling Words glued on this page
also. THE AGENDA IS VERY IMPORTANT. I communicate to my students that it
is their responsibility each night to show the agenda to their parents, have
their parents sign it, and bring it back to school each day. If the agenda
is lost, it will need to be replaced for a fee. Check your child's
agenda every night for specific homework assignments! Don't forget to sign
and return the agenda each day.
MATH: Let your child do everything he/she can do by
him/herself. Read directions, as needed, for your child. Your child will
also have to learn basic math facts. STUDY! STUDY! STUDY! We will have a
timed test on facts daily!
READING: Your child will be assigned a basal reader. Your child will be
responsible for reading the assigned story of the week. Read with your child,
helping him/her with any words he/she cannot call. Discuss the pictures and
talk about what happens in the story. A Reading Assessment will be given
each Friday.
SPELLING: Your child will be given a Spelling List every Monday. We will
practice spelling the words each day in class and activities will be given
to assist your child in learning to spell the words.
