I grew up in Fulton, Kentucky, and later went to college at Murray State
University where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Special
Education. I began teaching in the Milan School System as a Special
Education Teacher and did this for 27 years. During the first years of my
teaching, I attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and received my
Master's in Guidance and Counseling. In 2000, I became the Guidance
Teacher/Counselor for the lower grades K-2 at Milan Elementary. I am married
to Bobby Cotham who works for Gibson Electric Corporation. We have two
children, Marcie Cotham Denton and Clay. Marcie lives and works in Trenton
and has three sons, and Clay is a Sophomore at Middle Tennessee State
University majoring in Communications.
My hope for the children at Milan Elementary is that they will always be
the best that they can be and will strive to be individuals of good
character. Making good choices, practicing healthy and safe habits,
understanding emotions and dealing appropriately with them, using good
manners, and keeping a positive attitude will be spotlighted in this 2007-
2008 school year.
