Homework

Homework is important because it reinforces skills learned in class, prepares
students for upcoming class work, and teaches students to be responsible and
work independently.

The types of homework to be done daily are:
	study spelling words, reading words, and math facts
	read weekly story in reading book
	clean out folder

Each day’s homework will be brought home in the daily folder on the side
marked “Return.” Students will seldom have written homework in my class. Any
unfinished class work will be sent home to be finished; in addition, if a
student is struggling with a specific skill, extra practice will be sent
home. Occasionally, if we run out of class time, some work may be sent home
to complete. On average, homework should take no more than 30 minutes per
night, unless a student is having difficulty or has unfinished work from
class.

Homework should be neat, complete, and turned in on time. If a student does
not return his/her homework on time, he/she will be required to do it during
free time the next day. Math fact cards will be kept in your child’s
folder. Your child should study these every night and then put them back in
the folder.

Students are required to bring their agendas, homework folder, math fact
cards, reading books, and any assigned homework to class each day. If your
student does not bring a required item to class, they will lose free time.
If it happens more than once in a week, your student will have to move their
clip for not following directions.
