Discipline Plan

Parents:

I am looking forward to an exciting year filled with fun and LOTS of learning!  In order for all students to have a safe environment conducive to learning, I have developed the following Discipline Plan.

I have discussed these Rules/Rewards/Consequences with my students.  Please read and discuss this plan again with your child, sign and return only the back page.  Keep this letter for future reference.  I appreciate all that you do to support our classroom policies.

Classroom rules:

BE RESPECTFUL

BE RESPONSIBLE

MAKE GOOD CHOICES

Use kind words and actions.

Come to school and class ready to learn.

Follow directions.

§  Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak or leave your seat.

§  Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

§  Speak kindly to each other.

§  Work quietly.

§  Bring paper, pencils, books, and PAWS binder to class every day.

§  Turn in completed assignments on time.

§  Listen carefully and follow directions the first time they are given.

§  Follow all procedures.

Rewards:

Students will be rewarded for good behavior by receiving special privileges--extra computer time, free choice time, no homework, special activity, etc.  Students who demonstrate exemplary work and behavior will be allowed to bring $2 and go to canteen on Friday.

Consequences:

I want you to be able to know immediately when you open your child's agenda if we had any problems during the day.  I will put a colored dot in your child's agenda if he/she pulls any tickets.  The color of the dot will let you know the offense.   The colors are as follows:

     Not working quietly; disturbing others

   Not listening; not following directions

     Unkind words or actions

Not following classroom or school procedures.

            GREAT BEHAVIOR

Please check your child's agenda every day and sign under the dot or paw print.

If your child breaks a rule:

Gentle Reminder—One warning is given each day.  A warning is intended to get your child’s attention and make him/her think about their actions.  A stop sign will be placed on your child’s desk as a visual reminder that he/she needs to STOP and think!

1st ticket—conference with teacher, 5 minutes time-out

2nd ticket--conference with teacher, 10 minutes time-out/loss of privilege

3rd ticket—conference with teacher, loss of privilege, note/phone call to parents.  When your child pulls the 3rd ticket, it will be written up as a “minor” offense.

*Please note:  repeated offenses and/or extreme misbehavior will result in an automatic office visit or parent  phone call.

**If your child has 3 written-up minors in a 6 week grading period, it is then considered a “major” offense and they will be sent to the office where a principal will decide on a consequence of their behavior.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at school (731-686-0840).  Thank you in advance for your support.  I look forward to a wonderful year!
