I have discussed these Rules/Rewards/Consequences with my students. Please read and discuss this plan again with your child. I appreciate all that you do to support our classroom policies.
Classroom Rules:
1. Talk quietly.
2. Listen and follow the directions
3. Be kind in your words and actions.
4. Be safe at work and play.
5. Keep your hands, feet and other objects to yourself.
6. Follow all school rules (see MES handbook in your agenda).
Rewards:
Students will be rewarded for good behavior by receiving special privileges---free choice time, stickers, treasure chest, canteen, etc. Students who pull no more than one ticket all week will be allowed to bring $1 and go to canteen on Friday.
Consequences:
I want you to be able to know immediately when you open your child’s agenda if we had any problems during the day. I will put a colored code in your child’s agenda if he/she pulls any tickets. The color of the code will let you know the offense. Your child will get a warning before any ticket is pulled. The color codes are:
GREEN Talking
RED Not listening: not following directions
YELLOW Unkind words or actions
BLUE Safety
ORANGE School rule
No Tickets Pulled!
Please check your child’s agenda every day and sign under the color codes.
If your child breaks a rule
Warning first
1st ticket---conference with teacher, five minutes timeout
2nd ticket--*yellow discipline card, conference with teacher, note home, 10 minutes timeout
3rd ticket--*yellow discipline card, parents called
4th ticket—student sent to Principal’s office, punishment will be determined by administration and teacher
Severe Behavior—student will be sent immediately to Principal’s office; punishment will be determined by administration
Please remember that this cycle begins new each day!!! Your child will begin each day with a clean slate through September, and then we go to a weekly cycle!!
*Consequences for Yellow Discipline Cards
Yellow discipline cards will be used as a means of recording inappropriate conduct. The accumulation of these cards will start over at the beginning of each nine week grading period.
Number of cards Consequences
1 Warning
2 Warning
3 Warning and Note Home
4 Detention
5 Detention
6 Detention
**This list of consequences will serve as a minimum.
I believe that good conduct is essential to having a proper atmosphere for learning to take place.
The following scale will be used to determine your child’s conduct grade:
No Yellow Discipline Cards S (Satisfactory)
*remember, your child will receive two warnings a day before getting a yellow card
1-3 Yellow Discipline Cards N (Needs Improvement)
4 or more Yellow Discipline Cards U (Unsatisfactory)
