  On Tuesday, May 15, at 9:20 a.m., there will be a Senior Recognition 
Assembly that will recognize seniors and their future plans and scholarship 
awards from colleges, technical schools, or the military. Family member are 
welcome. Seniors need to tell Ms. Parkins about any scholarships they have 
received so it can be announced on this day. You may email her or go by her 
office.
  The Milan Education Association invites seniors to apply for its annual 
scholarship. See Ms. Parkins for an application. Deadline is April 25.
  S.T.A.R. (Student/Teacher Achievement and Recognition) Award applications 
are available in Ms. Parkins' office. Seniors may apply by writing an essay 
about themselves and about a teacher who has had a profound influence on 
them. Completed applications are due back to Ms. Parkins on May 4. 
  Seniors, if you owe money for your graduation order, please see Ms. April 
Gonzales as soon as possible.
  Bethel University announces the Legacy Scholarship Program, Making History 
Come Alive, which offers scholarships to participants in the new charater 
portrayal program. Examples of characters include George Washington, Thomas 
Jefferson, and Madame Marie Currie, and students may choose to act or fill a 
supporting role such as writing, prop/set design, technical, or costume 
design. Please see Ms. Parkins for more information and to arrange an 
interview.
  End of Course Exams are state mandated exams that will count 25 percent of 
the final grade for that subject. The exam schedule is as follows: May 1, 
Algebra I; May 2, English 10; May 3, Biology I; May 4, Make-up for Algebra I, 
English 10, and Biology I; May 7, English 9 and English 11; May 8, Algebra II;
May 9, US History. 
  The T.R. Hartsfield and V.G. Graves Academic Scholarship applications are 
available in Ms. Parkins office. Deadline: May 4.
  MassMutual is offering a scholarship for high-achieving African-American, 
Asian, and Hispanic students who are interested in careers in the insurance 
and financial services industry. Go to www.act.org/massmutual to apply online 
by May 4.
  Tennessee Technological University's Sigma Phi Epsilon's Balanced Man 
Scholarship for male seniors enrolling at Tennessee Tech this fall. See Ms. 
Parkins for an application. Deadline is Sept. 9.
  Bethel University is offering scholarships for students interested in 
Sports Information. Email Dave McCulley at mcculleyd@bethelu.edu or see Ms. 
Parkins for information.
 Imagine America Scholarships are for seniors pursuing a certificate or 
degree at a career college or technical school. Go to www.imagine-america.org 
to apply.
  The Milan Alumni Association Scholarship applications are available. 
Seniors must have a parent/stepparent or guardian who graduated from Milan 
High School. See Ms. Parkins for an application or go to www.milanalumni.org. 
Deadline is May 4.
  The Tennessee Marine Family, a nonprofit organization, is offering the 
Fallen Heroes Scholarship. Two winners will receive a $1000 award. To apply, 
seniors must be attending a Tennessee college or tech school.  See Ms. 
Parkins or go to www.tnmarinefamily.org by May 1.
  Senior Tennessee Scholars must go to http://surveymonkey.com/s/HHX87HX and 
complete the survey.
