I was born and raised in Germany (an Army Brat, and proud of it!!!) Was
blessed enough to get to travel all over Europe (my parents were BIG on
camping in the mountains). And to this day I have a passion for traveling.
I lived in Alabama for 20 years and moved to good 'ole Rocky Top' in 2000. I
tried living in Nashville a few years ago, however, YIKES!!!, after working
in the Metro School System for one year, my husband and I decided without any
reservation, to come back to Milan and enjoy the sanity of a small school
system once again. Though I still miss not getting to have finished my
schooling at Vanderbilt, I learned two very valueable lessons in leaving
Nashville, bigger is definitely not better (quality far outweighs quantity)
and more importantly, to appreciate what you have today, because
tomorrow "it" may not be within your reach again.
This will be my 13th year of teaching in Special Education and I still love
the field and the challenge. Before I switched over to special education, I
taught Kindergarten for six years and loved that as well. It was because of
befriending a deaf neighbor of mine years ago that made me decide to enter
special education. I received a Bachelor of Science in Deaf Education at
Montevallo University, in Montevallo, Alabama, a Master of Education in
Special Education at Bethel College, in McKenzie, Tennessee, and will
hopefully soon further my education at Union University, barring no
future "accidents." I am very happily married, the mother of three
grown "boys" whom I am very proud of, and the equally proud Nana to three
angel babies. On most days, I absolutely LOVE teaching, I love seeing
the "lightbulb" turn on in my students' eyes,I love knowing that I had a part
in making learning something of value to them, and I love the lessons that my
students impart on me on a regular basis.
Our class mission is that everyone that enters into our classroom will be
treated as a person of great worth. Everyone respects everyone and everyone
has something to contribute to the well being of the entire class. My
personal mission is to provide a classroom that is safe and where enriched
learning takes place on a daily basis.
