Course Summary:
This course will cover a review of keyboarding and speedwriting. In this
course we will cover Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. In Word, we will
create documents such as reports, agendas, minutes of meetings, personal and
business letters, envelopes, tables, resumes and application letters. In
Excel, students will create spreadsheets, charts and learn other features in
Excel. In PowerPoint, students will demonstrate the features of PowerPoint
by creating a PowerPoint presentation. Students will also learn basic
computer terminology.
Grading:
Grading Scale
A- 100-93 C-84-75 F - below 70
B- 92-85 D-74-70 I- Incomplete
Students will be assessed by contract grading and Rubric grading this fall.
Students will be bring home a copy of thier contract for you to sign.
Student will contract for thier grade the first 9 weeks in DLD. Mostly
rubric grading will be done the second 9 weeks in spreadsheet application.
Students will be graded in timed speedwriting, in-class assignments,
homework assignments,projects, participation, quizzes, and tests.
Assignment:
All homework assignments are due at the beginning of the period.
All assignments, tests, and quizzes must have the correct heading:
Top left side of page should include: Student¡¦s name, date, class period,
and assignment name. There will be a 4-point deduction from grade for not
having a correct heading.
Fees:
There is a $10 fee required for this class. This fee will cover all
materials used during this semester including disk, printer paper, folder
and simulations.
Absences:
It is the student's responsibility to make up missed work. The student
needs to begin making up missed work on the first day back to school. You
can not start new work assignments with the class until you have completed
missed work or unless you have my permission.
Please see me as soon as possible about makeup tests or quizzes.
If the student is absent on the day of a test or quiz, it must be made up
either before or after school in the library as soon as possible.
Classroom Rules:
In order to maintain an atmosphere for learning, I expect each student to
comply with the following classroom rules:
ƒt Food and drinks are not allowed in the classroom
ƒt Be on time!!! You must be in your seat when the bell rings
ƒt Be prepared!! Bring all materials to class
ƒt Follow instructions the first time they are given!!
ƒt Be respectful! Show respect to everyone at all time
ƒt Do your own work! Sharing of disks is cheating!!
ƒt No chat room ¡VThis is a school rule !!!!!!!!!
ƒt For your safety and the safety of your classmates- Please Do Not
roll around in the chairs.

Any Other Marks received after the fourth Mark within a ten day perod.

Classroom Rules
Be in your seat when the bell ring- have all needed materials
Your assignment will be posted on the board each day, start your work. Do
not wait to be told to start.
There will be a sign out and in Sheet on a clipboard in front of class for
you to sign in or out of this class. You must have a hall pass to go in the
hall, and my room pass.
Restroom visit: Restroom visit will not be permitted during presentation of
new material or during directions. Misuse restroom privileges will result
in no visit to restroom. Asking to go to the restroom one day out of every
week will not be allowed. Use the restroom before coming to class.
Hand in homework: I will tell you when to turn in class work ¡V Pass class
work to your left. The last person will take stack and place Paper clip or
rubber band. And place in proper basket.
You are to keep returned assignment in your Folder
Missed assignment sheet will be placed in basket, with date on it. It will
be your responsible to see me about any missed assignments.
Dismissal of Class:
I will dismiss class
Your will stay in your seat, at your workstation until I dismiss the class.
You are to put your textbook at the top of your table and push your chair up
to table before you leave. You are to throw away your trash when you leave
the class. This will get you a check mark.
Complete Assignment before class is over: Do not talk
You may work on other work
Read
You may start on tomorrow assignment if posted

Course Summary:
This course will provide students with tools for achieving success in their
academic, work, and personal lives. Course content emphasizes the basic
skills and knowledge needed for employment success, as identified by
industry and supported by relevant national standards. All course content is
presented in a real-world context, providing concrete opportunities for
developing personal and career goals, effective communication skills,
teamwork abilities, and successful work attitudes.
