What's happening in the classrooms?

Here's a recap of the week's activities.

Mrs. Tassin's room We have been reading a story about a little boy who created his own land.
Wouldn't that be just too fun?

Mrs. Winfrey's room
We have been working on skills and identifying genres of literature.

Mrs. Collins's room We will be looking at irony and flashbacks in writing. We will also be reading
some great stories for the holidays. Mid-terms will be next week.

Mrs. Hines's room We have been looking at point of view and will move into an interesting story,
"Roman Holiday". Mid-terms are next week.

Mrs.Spain's class has been studying the reconstruction after the Civil War.

In Mrs. Rinke's room, we move into a study of the Islamic people and compare the religions.
Mrs. Dollar's class We continue "Caravans" this week in preparation for the "geography bee" after
Christmas. Teams were formed and then the traveling began . Teams had to "purchase" supplies
and plan a strategy to travel the world, collecting gold from various destinations. As the team moves
across the globe, various tasks will be assigned to research, locate, name, draw, (to name a few) as
well as receive "fate" cards. (Oops! Sometimes, those fates could bring trouble!) It will be fun to see
which team will collect the most gold nuggets by December 17! Bon Vovage!

Mr. Fields class will be learning about the early days of the government in the new country.

Mr. Verner's class
It's Christmas project time! We looked at the project to create a Christmas card about how a
country celebrates Christmas. We read about the storms last week and talked about dealing with
weather fears. We read one of my favorite book, "Thundercake" by Patricia Poloco. We ate real
thundercake too.

AR at the middle school is really emphasized with twenty minutes of reading everyday in reading
class!

The countdown to the holidays has begun!

Have a great week! Let's make December a great month!
