2009-2010 MJE PTO Committees
The MJE PTO welcomes any and all volunteers!
Volunteering at MJE is a wonderful way to support their education...plus
it sends a positive message to your child that YOU think education is
worth the time!

Ad Hoc:
Volunteers help with various projects as needs arise.
Accelerated Reader Store:
Our students can earn points for reading books. The points are used to "buy" prizes at the AR
Store. Volunteers help the
students select prizes and also check the correct amount of points.
Book Fairs:
The library hosts a Scholastic book fair in the fall and
spring. Volunteers act as cashiers and assist children.
The book fairs are held over a 2-week period with 2 shifts each day:
7:30
am to 10:45 am
and
10:45 am to 2:00 pm
.
Boxtops/Campbells Labels for Education:
Volunteers help counting
the boxtops and labels. The labels "buy" items for our art teacher, and t
he boxtops' funds are used to purchase supplies for our educational
assistants and for the teachers' workrooms.
Chick-fil-A night:
Volunteers copy the forms and distribute them
to the classes prior to the Thursday night.
Fall Festival:
Many opportunities exist to help with our Fall Festival. We need help organizing baskets for your class auction, setting up booths, and working 30-minute shifts on the Saturday of our festival. Please ask and we'll work around your schedule and needs. We need loads of help to make this a successful fundraiser!
Fundraisers:
Dates and more information will be posted early Autumn under the "Fundraisers" tab.
Field Day:
Volunteers help with selling snacks, drinks, and sno-
cones to the kids at this spring event that raises money for the P.E.
department.
Publicity:
Volunteers copy material to distribute to each classroom,
change the sign in front of the school, and inform local media and
businesses about school events, amongst other things.
Super Bears:
Volunteers help with taking pictures and creating their
certificates. Super Bears are presented every 9 weeks at the PTO meeting.
TCAP Proctors:
Volunteers help the teacher in proctoring the class
rooms during TCAP tests in the spring. The guidance department coordinates
this for the school.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon:
We need a lot of help to
coordinate this spring event. An elaborate and fun-filled luncheon is
held to show our faculty and staff how much the parents and students
appreciate them. The biggest volunteer need is for class monitors.
need
2 parents
to sit with
each class
while the teacher attends the
luncheon.
Volunteer Directory:
Volunteers put together a directory of all
volunteers (with their permission) for distribution to the committee
chairpeople.
