2009-2010 is my 26th year of teaching. I have taught art (elementary, high
school, and college level), third grade, fourth grade, and been a school
counselor. I taught for the Department of Defense in Hanau, Germany for 14
years. I was the art teacher at Crockett County High School in Alamo, TN from
1996 to 2008. I am thrilled to be the art teacher at Mt. Juliet Elementary
School.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Middle Tennessee
State University. I hold a Master's of Education in Counseling from Boston
University. I am certified to teach Art, kindergarten through twelfth grade.
I have a sweet dog, named Maggie, who is the boss of me. My niece has
recently moved to the area to attend graduate school and is keeping me young
and busy. I love to spend whatever spare time I have making jewelry from
reclaimed materials.
My goal for the art classes at Mt. Juliet Elementary School is to expose the
students to as many different art experiences as possible. My classes are
project and theme oriented and the skills build on each other as we move
through the year. I would like the students to learn to use the skills they
learn on one project and apply it to a different problem and solution. I
believe that it is the creative thinkers who will rescue our world and figure
out how to make things work for the future.
