Hello from Ms. Vaughn's class. :-)
For the 2009/2010 Year:
School starts at 7:15. Students begin their morning work at their desks.
At 7:30 the students go to specials, which includes Art, P.E., Library,
Music, and Computer.
From 8:15-10:30 we work on Large-group Reading, Vocabulary, Math, Phonics,
Writing, and Small-Group Reading. On alternative days we learn about science.
We also discuss social studies as it relates to our story of the week and/or
holidays (such as Johnny Appleseed and Martin Luther King Days). I enjoy
teaching geography, also, as it relates to our stories or the children's own
experiences.
Lunch is at 10:40-11:10. You are welcome to meet your child for lunch
anytime. Please meet us at the cafeteria.
After stopping at the restroom and before recess, the students put their mats
down for nap time.
Recess is from 11:30 - 12:00. We go outside if it's 32 degrees or above. If
it's under 32, we stay inside. If we have recess inside, we either watch a
movie or PBS, read a book, or play a game.
Rest time - 12:00 - 12:40. Ms. Vaughn works on agendas and meets with
students one on one for instruction, encouragement, and/or testing.
Get up from nap/snack time/restroom/pleasure Reading - 12:40 -1:10.
Center time is - 1:15 - 1:45. If a student has not finished his/her work
during the day, sometimes I ask them to finish in order to enjoy centers.
Occasionally we have to work through center time and/or we work on a project.
