New Scholastic Book Order coming home March 24th!
Please take a look at books for your
child to read over summer and to help
them get ready for First Grade.
Orders due online by May 1st.
Parents,
Don't forget to check your child's agenda each night. Take out the work that
was comleted for that day and look for any notes from the school or myself.
If you have any questions or concerns please write it down in the agenda or
send me an email.
Also please make sure your child has an extra change of clothes in a gallon
sized zip lock bag in their backpack. They need pants, underwear, socks, and
a shirt. Some students have clothes in their bag; however, the clothes are
still summer clothes such as shorts and short sleeve shirts. Please be sure
to check their extra clothes.
Helpful Hints for a Successful Kindergartener
Read with your child every night.
Have your child read one page and you read the other.
Have your child read to you.
After you and your child read a book, have your child tell you in his or her
own words what happened in the book.
Use flashcards to help remember sight words.
You can put sight words in a power point and let your child scroll through
the slides and try to read them.
You can make a power point using words that are easy to sound out such as
ran, bat, hand, shell, that, and so on. Have your child sound out each
letter and practice blending the letter sounds together to make a word.
