Greetings to my students!

While some of you may not currently understand the
importance of language arts, don't fall into the trap of
de-valuing this subject. Besides your daily use of language, language arts is used in so many wonderful
occupations and careers: acting, songwriting, law (attorney), criminal
justice, mass media, advertising, public relations, and sales are just a few careers
that require strong language arts skills.

Always remember that the more well-spoken you are, the more impressive you are. Also, language arts affects your social life. All people are more comfortable with those who speak their "language".

Finally, the more well-read you are, the better informed you are and the stronger your vocabulary.

Always be totally honest with yourself. Simply
reflect on your work and your work ethic to determine where you may have made mistakes.

If, in the past, you earned a low grade because you failed to submit work, be more aware of
that during this grading period and purpose to submit ALL assignments. If you've earned low test scores, simply schedule yourself a specific
time to study. Always re-read those areas that confuse you or that you forget.

If you feel lost at any time concerning a particular lesson, find that lesson and re-read it. It only takes about 3-5 minutes to re-read a lesson and to study the examples. Also, it sometimes helps to talk to classmates that understand it. If that doesn't work, let me know so I can help you revisit that lesson.

To the best of my ability, I will help you excel in language arts, but remember, you
must make every effort on your part as well.
