11/13/10 and 11/14/10~In class, completed and checked DRP week 16/Day 1, took spelling test, checked vocab. homework, and worked as a class to complete a story profile for When Marian Sang. I also gave out the book report guidelines for the next book report. I will go over them in detail on Friday.

11/19/10 and 11/20/10~In class, completed DRP week 17/Day1, checked vocab. homework, read Learning to Swim, and completed vocabulary for the story. Students also had an opportunity to go to the library to select a book for their book report.

11/21/10 and 11/22/10~In class, completed DRP week 17/Day 2, took open book Unit 8 test, and completed a story profile for Learning to Swim.

First Semester

8/7/09~Stack Day~Library Orientation!

8/10/09 and 8/11/09~In class, we put together Daily Reading Practice (DRP) folders. These will stay in the classroom and will be completed at the beginning of every class. Today we completed Week1-Day1 of DRP.

Read When Crowbar Came in the textbook and completed vocab for the story.

Homework-Bring workbook money ($8) and DRP folder if you have not already done so!

8/12/09 and 8/13/09~In class, completed and checked Week 1-Day 2 of DRP. Also, completed workbook pg. 43 & 44. Most of class was spent in the library. Students had to opportunity to check out books today. For the first couple of weeks we will go to the library as a class. Then they can go a few at a time during any reading class if they need to.

8/17/09 and 8/18/09~In class, completed Week 2-Day 1 of DRP. Also, completed Vocabulary and read The Universe. Introduced the words in Unit 1 of Vocabulary workshop. These are spelling words as well as vocabulary words.

If students score 100% on the pre-test...they do not have to take the final test on Friday!!

8/21/09~Stack Day!~In class, finished and check DRP week 2, took spelling test, and The Universe test. I also gave out book report guidelines for the first book report.

8/24/09 and 8/25/09~In class, completed Week 3-Day1 of DRP. Also, checked homework from vocab. workbook(pg.25). Students completed an assessment for The Universe. Finally we began the new story from the textbook...Chimpanzees I Love.

8/26/09 and 8/27/09~In class, completed Week3-Day 2 of DRP. Also, checked vocabulary homework and reviewed for the test that will be Friday. Students completed workbook pages for the story this week. Today was also Library Day! Students had the opportunity to return, renew, or check out books!
