Week of October 19-23
We are working on Unit 5 in our Vocabulary Workshop Workbook.
Day 1 fill in the definitions and illustrate in the workbook. Day 2 complete
synonyms and antonyms. Day 3 complete choosing the right word and vocabulary
in context. Day 4 completing the sentences and we will be ready to
take our test. We will also spell these words on Day 4. Our Daily Reading
Parapraph activites will be completed in class. Our reading story is "The
Chimpanzees I Love." Your child has vocabulary from the story he/she will
see again, also ask about the story, discuss it with them. The questions and
story profile will be added to this vocabulary in class.
ADVANCED classes are required to have 20 AR points this nine weeks.
Completed handouts are due Monday, December 14th and Tuesday, December 15th
depending when you have reading.
You will need 25 AR points to attend the AR party at the end of the nine
weeks. The last day to test will be Friday, December 11th.
Week of October 26-30
Unit 6 is our Vocabulary Workshop Unit. Day 1 fill in definitions and
illustrate in the book, Day 2 synonymns and antonymns, Day 3 complete
choosing the right word and vocabulary in contect, Day 4 completing the
sentences and it will be test time. We will also be spelling these words.
Our Daily Reading Paragraph is week 10 dealing with Dr. Mae Jemison. "Black
Frontiers" is the title of our reading story. Your child will have
vocabulary from the story he/she will see again in the form of classwork,
also discuss the story with your child. We will add questions and a story
profile in class.
Book reports were assigned last week. Your child has the necessary criteria
for the report due December 2nd and 3rd.
Week of November 2-6
We will test over Unit 6 on Wednesday and Thursday. If your child does
not make a 100, I expect them to make corrections. We will proceed to Unit 7
working each day as we have each week (directions in the above paragraphs).
These words will also be used as our Spelling words. Our Daily Reading
Paragraph is week 11. These activities are completed in class. Depending on
your sections, we are finishing up "Black Frontiers" and beginning "Space
Cadets." As we work through each story we will have vocabulary to define,
answer the questions in class, and complete a story profile. Students will
then complete classwork over the story read.

Week of November 9th-13th
We have just begun Unit 7 in the Vocabulary Workshop Workbook. They
have received their Unit 6 vocabulary test and corrections need to be made
and handed in, they know the proper procedure. We will proceed through Unit
7 as we do each unit, the directions are found in week 26-30. We also spell
these words. Our DRP for the week is week 12. In reading we are wrapping
up "Space Cadets" and moving into "Week in the 1800's." We will define
vocabulary, complete questions, and a story profile. These will be completed
in class. Students will then complete classwork over the story we read.
ADVANCED Classes----Complete Study Island ...Cause and Effect and Persausive
Devices...have these completed by November 20th.
Week of November 16th-20th and November 23rd-24th
So sorry for the delay, we had internet issues the first part of the
week.
DRP Week 13 will be completed in class, checked, and handed in.
Vocabulary Workshop Workbook..we are finishing Unit 7. We will test on
this unit this week. Papers will be handed backa dn corrections are to be
made and handed in before the Thansgiving holiday.
Reading we are finishing up "A week in the 1800s" and "Space Cadets."
Everything concerning these stories are completed in class.
FYI..Book reports are DUE soon...also Study Island assignment deadline is
fast approaching....
