5th Grade News

TCAP

Review, review, review! We are working hard reviewing for TCAP! This is a very important test that will affect your child’s yearly average. Next week is the big week!!!!!  April 23-27 Please keep these date in mind when scheduling any appointments. It is very important for your child to be here on time and not miss any of these days. 

I am sending home a note for you to sign-up for days to send snacks during TCAP week. I realize that TCAP week is very stressful for students (and teachers), so I am going to try to make it as fun and relaxing as I possibly can (with your help). We will be having some breaks and snacks between tests and I will be purchasing items for the kids as rewards for working hard. Please send the note back by this Friday and I will send home a confirmation note later so you will know what to bring and when. Thank you in advance!

DARE Reports

DARE reports were turned in last week. I want to congratulate Cora, Alivia, and Jon-Brenan on being chosen as winners. Everyone did a fabulous job on the reports and every student will be given a 100 as a grade in Reading. Great Job!

Spelling/Reading

Due to TCAP reviews, we will not be having reading or spelling test the next 2 weeks. We will get back to normal after TCAP week.

Thinklink Probes

Way to go Melody and Bethany!!!!!!!! Both of these girls completed the goal of 150 probes. Several have completed at least 75. Today is the last day! I will have a complete list of winners on the next newsletter.

DARE Graduation

We have scheduled DARE graduation on Tuesday, May 8. It was very difficult to plan a day with so much going on at the end of the year. We are planning on having it at 1:00 and then having a small party afterwards. We do have a small conflict with the time and if we have to change anything, it will be moved to 2:00 on the same day. Hopefully it will work out and I will be able have the time set by next week. Let me know if you have any questions. 

Field Trips

Ok, our field trips are set! We are going to the Roxy Theater in Lebanon on May 7 to watch a movie and then to Don Fox Park with the 6^th grade class. Unfortunately, the manager at the Roxy called me last week to tell me that they will not be getting Chimpanzee. We are not sure yet what we will be seeing, but right now it looks like it will be the The Pirates! Band of Misfits. Sorry for all the confusion but it will all work out! More information later!

Our 5^th grade class will be going to environmental day on May 10. All 5^th grade classes in the county participate in this program. We will be going to Cordell Hull Dam and will be participating in different environmental activities. I will be sending more information as soon as I get it.
