Policies/Procedures

Attendance
Regular and punctual attendance is very important for the education of every child. Our school day begins promptly at 8:00 am. Students entering the building after the 8:00 bell must obtain a late slip from the office. Report to your homeroom class.
In the event of an absence, a note from the parent must be sent when the student returns to school stating the reason for the absence.

Birthday Celebrations
Families are welcome to send in birthday treats (cupcakes, cookies, etc.) for a child's birthday. If you send in a treat, please make sure it is in individual portions and ready to serve. Birthday treats will be enjoyed after 2:00 during afternoon recess. Birthday invitations are not allowed to be passed out at school unless every child in the classroom is invited - no exceptions!

Classroom Visits
Parents are asked to make prior arrangements with the teacher before visiting the classroom. Visitors to the building must stop at the office to sign in and receive a visitor's badge before entering the classroom hallway area.

Communication
Open communication is vital between parents and teachers. Parents may contact me by:
sending a note with your child
calling the school and leaving a message
e-mail through our class webpage

I will communicate by:
sending notes, letters, and announcements home with students
sending student progress reports and report cards
making phone calls to parents
posting information on our class webpage

Conferences
Two conference dates have been scheduled for this school year:
Monday, September 26 - 3:15 - 6:00
Thursday, February 23 - 3:15 - 6:00

Parents are welcome to schedule additional conferences throughout the year to discuss any concerns they may have about their child.

Dismissal
Our school day ends at 3:00 pm. If a student is leaving in a different manner than is normal for them, a note should be sent to the teacher.

Graded Papers

Graded papers will be sent home in the student's binder as soon as they are graded. These papers do not need to be returned to school.

Homework
Homework will be assigned Monday - Thursday. Practicing at home those skills taught at school is a vital part of the learning process. Time is built in during the day so that students may begin their homework at school. Homework should take no longer than one hour each night.

Lunch Room
Students are expected to follow the rules posted in the cafeteria. Students may bring their lunch from home or purchase a school lunch. Parents are invited to eat lunch with their child. Please send a note the morning of your visit indicating if you need to order a lunch for yourself. Bringing fast food is not permitted.

Personal Possessions
Students are not to bring personal items to school (toys, video games, cell phones, etc.) Cell phones will be taken up and given to the principal. The other items will be taken up and returned to the parent only or returned to the student on the last day of school.
Silly Bandz are no longer allowed to be worn or brought to school in the fourth and fifth grade program.

Required Supplies
Students must bring their binder and agenda notebook to school everyday. Other supplies will be kept at school.

Student Progress
A progress report will be sent home halfway through the six weeks. Report cards will be sent home at the end of each six weeks.
