I graduated from Tennessee Tech University in May 2007 with my
bachelors degree in Education K-8. Teaching has been a dream of mine for as
long as I can remember, and I am so excited to be in 3rd grade.
My philosophy of education is that learning should be fun, inspiring and
organized. Education should be a balance of many different approaches
because all students are different and should not be expected to learn the
same way. I believe that when children go to school and become students they
need to receive an education not just schooling. My behavior management
plan is based on positive reinforcement. If my classroom were
being observed one would see many things going on throughout day. Students
would never be sitting idle doing nothing. School is a place of learning;
therefore supplemental activities will always be provided for students to do
when finished with their assignment. For instance I strongly believe in
having different centers, this activity helps keep students on task and is a
great time to individually assess students. Although my class may not
always be the quietest, we will always be productively working towards a
goal. A quote by William Batler Yeasts helps to explain my philosophy of
education. He states, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the
lighting of a fire.”
