This is my second year teaching at Oliver Springs High School, and I am
excited to be here! I am a native of Jackson, Tennessee, but I love the
mountains and feel at home here. I am a proud graduate of the University of
Mississippi with a BA in Secondary Education and an MA in Spanish and
French. I have over ten years experience teaching Spanish and French at the
high school, community college, and university levels. I also worked for 8
years as a Special Investigator with the federal government conducting
background investigations for top secret security clearances in Oak Ridge,
Atlanta, Vicksburg, Puerto Rico, Texas, and Louisiana. I have also served as
a bilingual observer in federal elections.
I have one child, Heather, a freshman at Oliver Springs High School. I am
the Spanish Club Sponsor and the Oliver Springs High School Band Booster Club
Secretary. I also teach Spanish online for the State of Tennessee for
students at schools all over the state.
My philosophy in the classroom is to treat my students with the same respect
and consideration with which I would want my daughter to be treated.
I want my students to succeed and to leave my classroom with a valuable
asset: the ability to communicate in Spanish. I also want my students to
acquire an appreciation and understanding of the Hispanic culture.
