Betsy Huddleston received her Bachelor's Degree from The Ohio State
University and taught in Ohio for two years before moving to Tennessee.
Betsy has lived in Cookeville for 19 years and shares her home with her
husband Terry, and her two children Kevin and Taylor Faragher. This is
Mrs. Huddleston's 14th year at Prescott (she's been here from the
beginning).
At Prescott, I strive to provide students with a well-rounded experience
in visual art. Classes are designed to provide students with the
opportunity to learn about art criticism, history, and application.
For most of our fifth grade students, this is their first experience of
learning art from an art professional. Therefore, I cover the basic
elements of art--shape, form, line, color, value, space and texture. I
enjoy using a broad variety of media with our students--paint,
clay, metal, paper mache and, sometimes, even salt, to name a few! It
keeps art fun and interesting for the students and provides opportunities
for everyone to enjoy success in their artwork.
In sixth grade art I will be building on the elements of art that students
learned in their fifth grade art class. They will be working on more
challenging and extended art assignments using the media of pencil,
markers, colored pencils, clay, paper sculpture and paint.
